Dual-Light Fusion: What Does "Dual-Light" Mean?

Night vision technology is a photoelectric imaging technology that enables nighttime observation using photoelectric imaging devices. It includes two categories: low-light night vision and infrared night vision.
Low-light night vision, also known as image intensification technology, uses a night vision device with an image intensifier tube to amplify faint target images illuminated by ambient night skylight for observation.
In this context, dual-light refers to the combination of low-light imaging and infrared (IR) imaging (the text mentions “red light” as a common reference to infrared light). These two technologies are used to detect hidden, invisible targets during the day or night, as well as objects obscured by buildings or cover.
Infrared night vision is divided into active infrared night vision and passive infrared night vision:
- Active infrared night vision: illuminates the target actively and observes by receiving reflected infrared light; the corresponding equipment is an active infrared night vision device.
- Passive infrared night vision: observes by detecting infrared radiation emitted by the target itself, identifying targets based on temperature differences or thermal radiation differences between the target and the background, or between different parts of the target.
Dual-light fusion refers to an instrument that fuses low-light imaging and infrared imaging. These two technologies cover the mainstream technical categories used in current observation and ranging systems.
Dual-light fusion observation is mainly applied in the following fields:public security, technical investigation, security protection, electric power, procuratorial work, forestry, fire fighting, maritime affairs, industry, electronics, medical treatment, scientific research, border defense, reconnaissance, culvert inspection, wildlife protection, coastal and border security, etc.
